Road Station Shimotsuma

Japan's only roadside rest area with a natto factory

It is full of attractive shops, such as restaurants, a bakery, a farmer's stand, and a souvenir and convenience store.

This is the Japan's only roadside rest area with a natto factory and offers a tour of the production process (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings every week).

Its observatory commands a view of Mt. Tsukuba—the most famous mountain in Ibaraki.
